Comorian gold jewellery, from the Dubai Gold Souk

7 Rain Jewellery, founded in 2016 with four showrooms in the Gold Souk, Deira, Dubai, serves Comorian families preparing a Grand Mariage. Our Comorian jewellery is 21K gold. See it in person, or receive photos, weight and price for each piece on WhatsApp, in English or French.

Gold and the Grand Mariage

The Grand Mariage (anda) is a rite of passage in Comorian society that confers recognised social status. During the ceremony, the groom's family presents the dowry (mahari): gold parures are displayed before being handed to the bride. Many Grand Mariages take place in July and August, when diaspora families return home for the occasion.

A set usually includes one or more necklaces, rings and earrings. The choice of pieces and their weight is a family and village matter; we advise on request rather than prescribing a set.

Our collections

Our Comorian catalogue covers around twenty families of design, including Ensembles, Hara, Kidani, Tadj, Mbo, Kéké, Djerman, Mkoufou, Bahraini, Feleke and pieces of the Boira/Paouni type. Each piece is weighed, and we state the weight in grams alongside the photo.
